The signs highlight the rebellious nature of the Star Warscharacter and also fit perfectly with Fisher's life as an advocate for mental health and proponent of women's rights.

Hayley Gilmore, a graphic designer based in Mississippi, posted a Dropbox link for the "A woman's place is in the resistance" sign:

Gilmore said she was trying to copyright her art and plans to give a percentage of donations to women's organisations in her home state:

Vanessa Witter, an LA-based artist, designed the other sign that went viral during the march, which shows Fisher/Leia and the caption "We are the resistance".
